Common warm-weather themes — bright florals, pastel, etc. — were splashed across new collections. But, when it comes to L.A.-based Clover Canyon — which has become famous around here for its lively, technicolor graphics — we very much appreciated that fall and winter were acknowledged in a big way. Channeling a blistery, cold, Russian winter, the fall '13 line was filled with cool blues, highly ornate, Baroque embellishments, and, like a frozen Swan Lake, dancers en pointe.With crystal-covered toe shoes and stiletto heels, the entire fall line felt like it was gracefully gliding on ice. And, much like snowflakes, no two prints were the same. Explosions of color came from mirrored graphics of royal palaces, as well as regal horses and beautiful swans. While swingy dresses felt equal parts Ballets Russe and party frock, the more sturdy, Neoprene sweaters and jackets gave strength and structure to the collection that, we suspect, can dance circles around a Siberian tundra….or at the very least, Nemo.
